Enabling people to work, learn and have fun together locally and globally...  safely and securely

I have wonderful fun working since 2002 on international educational projects bringing together business, university, non-profits and schools. In 2012 I am currently working on two projects:

My first project started in January 2012 is the Fc Jean Te Le Global Football and Education Programme led by Abdullah Ben-Kamyal (Ben). Started full time by Ben only this year, this takes a wonderful community football activity, extends its impact further into an educational experience for schools, and then still further out into the local and indeed global community. Here you can see the young people with England football captain Scott Parker. You can also see them on Facebook! (New window)

My most recent project started in April 2012 is educational development advisor to the Cambridge Centre for Innovation in Technological Education (New window). This is pure joy because it allows me to explore further technology based projects which extend to other areas of the curriculum. An example of my previous work is the Zero Cost Energy Bike from Ipswich to India! A group of Ipswich schools worked together with Katha School, India to produced bikes which provide lights in people's homes! See some fascinating videos of the Zero Cost Energy Bike in Stoke High School, in Katha School...then in an Indian home creating light for a child to read! See also From Technophobe to Polymath for further detail.

Many other examples of my work can be seen in Project Video Clips on business, technology, arts, sport, health, community, zero cost energy with UK, Uganda, China, US and India (Click here). My work has also resulted in the creation of a number of self-sustaining Project Sites run and managed by a school, university, education authority, non- profit and business respectively (Click here).

The common focus to all of these projects is two-way local and global learning, communication and collaboration skills, and individual enhanced self-esteem, aspirations and respect for self and others. There are three components to the generic approach, which is called the Expectation Shock Educational Programme (Click here):

It enabled mutual learning on all levels, giving teachers the opportunity to share ideas, knowledge, skills from other teachers and students, provided opportunities to link to local businesses and a multi-national business, having Coventry University, BT and Cisco interested and contributing to the project really raised the profile of the project across the school.

I found it to be an immensely useful and engaging session that really gave me the opportunity to see the young people development a range of enterprise skills and I could see that they visibly grew in confidence as the afternoon went on. I think the presentation skills that they developed, along with the opportunity to bond as a group, will be invaluable in helping to make this project a success.

It has been a fabulous project to work with and the pupils have got so much from it. As a school it has moved us forward in so many ways......it has really stretched the capabilities of our more able pupils...It enabled students to think laterally, test their ability to contemplate barriers and create solutions.

Examples

The wide variety of projects and ages that can be addressed with this approach can be seen on this site and in video clips from projects on business, technology, arts, sport, health, community, zero cost energy from UK, Uganda, China and India.

You can also see these 'Visitor Views' of various Community Project Sites run and managed by a school, university, education authority, non- profit and business respectively. These sites feature Expectation Shock programmes led by different types of organisations. They look different and vary in depth because all content, including frontpage, is generated and managed by users themselves.
